Acupuncture is a comprehensive system of examination, diagnosis, and treatment. It seeks to alleviate symptoms and pain by assisting individuals to find balance in their lives. Preventative maintenance is central to the philosophy of Chinese Medicine, and this extends to what we generally consider our mental health, as well.
Acupuncture is a method of encouraging the body to promote natural healing and improve function.
Acupuncture is a good adjunct and benefit to the relief of chronic and acute neck pain, back pain, and headaches. This also releases any blockages in the nerve, circulation and meridian, which is the flow of energy in the body. There are 144 main acupuncture points in the body. Think of these as little “circuit breakers”. If someone is in pain this is due to a blockage in the nerve, circulation, or meridian. The meridians are also extensions of the organs. For instance the gall bladder meridian relates to the “deep sleep” point in the body. Also people who have sleep issues, could have spinal cord pressure. So the best of both worlds is to combine chiropractic adjustments with acupuncture.
The basis of acupuncture is expressed in this famous Chinese saying: “Bu tong ze tong, tong ze bu tong” which means “free flow: no pain, no free flow: pain.”
In other words, any kind of pain or illness represents an obstruction in the normal flow of Qi or life force. Simply put, acupuncture moves Qi, restoring free flow.
At Wellness Associates we utilize non-invasive acupuncture along with our other services to treat the entire person. We believe that total health involves all aspects of your life.
